Is AI Generated Content bad for SEO?

Yes and of course, No, here’s what Bertha Ai came up with when I asked this question of her;

AI-generated content can be a valuable tool for SEO when used correctly.

It can help in creating large amounts of unique and relevant content quickly, which can improve a website’s search engine ranking. However, it is essential to ensure that the content generated by AI is of high quality, relevant, and adds value to the reader.

Search engines like Google prioritize content that is useful and engaging for users, so it is crucial to strike a balance between utilizing AI-generated content and ensuring it meets SEO best practices. Ultimately, the key to success in SEO with AI-generated content lies in providing value to the audience and following SEO guidelines.

Did you spot the AI Content there?

Generative AI Generally uses adjectives where, sometimes it’s not needed and due to the nature of how AI learns, calculates what to say, the language can be, let’s say, a little old fashioned.

Examples are: However, Essential, Ultimately, Ensuring. So, as writers, we need to replace those words and edit the content. The main issue with generating bulk articles with generative AI is that it sometimes gives incorrect information, is overly adjective laden and sometimes, just doesn’t make much sense. It’s robotic!

How do we overcome the fact that generative AI can sometimes seem robotic?

I asked Bertha this and here is the result – still fairly robotic right? Although, it’s a great start and better than looking at a blank page.

When using Generative Ai to help you come up with content, it’s a great idea to use it as a starting point. Read it, take it all in and then edit the content to find your own voice. Let’s see if we can improve upon what Bertha AI gave us.

1. Make your voice heard: insert your own personality including emotion and storytelling elements into the content to make it more relatable and engaging for your audience. Add anecdotes, humor – even sarcasm, or personal insights which, if used correctly, will entice your readers and keep them coming back for more.

2. Talk to your audience naturally and enthusiastically Write in a tone that feels natural to you and and your readers. Be clear, concise and reach out to your audience with things that you would like to hear, read and see.

3. Use Ai as a base and learn from it to help you write better: Although AI-generated content provides a foundation, it’s always a good idea to review, edit, and personalize the material to match your brand voice and style. Matching the content to your specific audience can make it feel more compelling and authentic.

4. A picture paints a thousand words: Add images, videos, infographics, or other visual media to complement the text and enhance the overall user experience. Visuals can break up the text and make the content more visually appealing and engaging.

5. Monitor and amend if necessary: Continuously monitor the performance of the AI-generated content and gather feedback from users to make improvements over time. Adjusting the content based on analytics data and user responses can help refine the material and make it more human-like.

By following these tips, you can mitigate the robotic feel of generative AI content and create more compelling, human-centered material that reaches out to your audience.

See what I did there? I think using AI to expand your content and give you great ideas will help you produce more human like copy and help your audience understand your offerings, opinions and insights so much better.

Basically, if you use AI to BULK create blog posts and content on your pages and don’t amend, edit or improve it, you are doing your business, your customers and yourself a disservice.

AI is and will always be, a helpful content provider as long as you realise that it sits alongside you, rather than replaces you. As far as is it good for SEO – it’s a resounding YES, if you utilise it properly.
